Ipsy November 2018 Review + Unboxing

Are you looking for a cheap beauty subscription box that’s actually worth it? Look no further—Ipsy is one of the best. Their subscription costs just $10 per month for around five sample makeup, skincare, or hair products. Plus, you’ll also receive a small, reusable makeup bag every month! This sets them apart from most other cheap beauty subscription boxes on the market.
I’ve subscribed to Ipsy for a few months now and have had great experiences. For one, they’ve done a lovely job tailoring products toward my beauty preferences. For example, I chose that I’d like to receive makeup brushes the most and I’ve received one in nearly every Glam bag! Plus, the reusable makeup bags are adorable and very useful.
That said, this Ipsy review shares my November products, savings opportunities, and similar beauty subscription boxes you might also enjoy!
Shipping + Unboxing
As with my previous Ipsy bags, the November one was shipped in a bright pink bubble mailer. This month’s reusable glam bag was dark blue with a black hearts print. It was cute!
I got five products that I’ll be sharing below.
Nomad Cosmetics Illuminating Highlighter
You can never have too many highlighters. This one is a nude shade that pairs great with my light skin tone. It’s easy to blend in and looks gorgeous! The small size is perfect to keep in my bag for touch-ups.
Beau Gachis Eye Shader Brush
As I mentioned before, Ipsy has done a great job at fulfilling my need for more makeup brushes. This one is an eyeshadow brush.
It’s soft, feels high quality, and is perfect for blending!
Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay Porefining Face Mask
I absolutely love clay masks. This one has a bunch of great ingredients that help draw out toxins and cleanse your skin! My skin felt soft and clean after using it. I did need a moisturizer afterward, but that’s typical with a clay mask. It didn’t do much for my pores, though.
Ciate London Translucent Setting Powder
I hadn’t used a setting powder in a while, so I forgot how great they are!
Since this one is white, I had to be careful with it to make sure I didn’t look like a ghost. I just used it to set concealer under my eyes, and it worked great! You don’t need very much, so this should last a while too.
MAC Prep + Prime
This is a top-rated product. I’ve actually tried another sample of it before, and it worked wonderfully, but I never purchased it for some reason. It’s a fantastic primer. A little goes a long way, so this sample might even last me a month!
Savings Opportunities
Ipsy is already one of the cheapest subscription boxes, so it can be difficult to find coupons or deals for it. However, they do offer great deals in their shop! You’ll receive cash back for every item you purchase. Many of these are 15% or 20% cash back, which is a great deal. Some even grant 30% cash back! Each product lists the cashback deal and how much it will cost after the discount. They also have daily and weekly sales on certain products or brands.
In addition, you can review your Ipsy glam bag and products each month on their website to gather reward points. These add up quickly and can be redeemed for products or even a free month of Ipsy!
Similar Beauty Subscription Boxes
If you’re searching for the best beauty subscriptions, you’ve already discovered there are plenty of options to choose from. Since there are so many, I figured I’d share a couple more options that I recommend.
Birchbox
If you’re set on a cheap beauty box, Birchbox is another great option. It’s very similar to Ipsy, but they don’t include a reusable makeup bag with their shipments. They do provide around five samples each month and personalize products toward your beauty preferences! My Birchbox reviews share a few examples of the boxes I’ve received.
Julep
Although samples are great, many people prefer full-size products. If you’re willing to spend a little more, Julep’s boxes provide full-size, high-quality products! It costs $24.99, but each box is worth at least $40.
One thing I love about Julep is that you’re able to customize your box as much as you’d like. This means you could either let them know what type of products you’d like (nail polish, makeup, and/or skincare) or you can select the products yourself from their monthly collections. As you can see in my Julep reviews, I’ve tried items from each of their product lines.
FabFitFun
This next subscription is a bit spendier than Ipsy, but I still had to mention it: FabFitFun is one of the best value subscription boxes I’ve found! For $49.99 each season, you receive a beautifully curated box full of products from beauty, fashion, fitness, home, and other items that fit the season. Each of my previous FabFitFun boxes were worth over $300! They provide high-end brands and all full-size products.
