Graze August 2018 Review + Unboxing
Monthly shipments of healthy snacks for an inexpensive price? Sign me up! You can get this from Graze, a snack subscription box that I subscribed to a couple months ago. With their generous free trial offer and creative snacks, there’s no excuse not to try it out. It’s even a good snack box for people with strict dietary preferences!
This Graze review will share the snacks I got in my August box, savings opportunities, as well as similar snack subscriptions.
Shipping + Unboxing
My previous Graze boxes were shipped in orange boxes, but this month I received my snacks in a blue box!
Since I was pretty picky about my dietary preferences, I’ve already tried all the snacks I received this month. If you don’t have dietary preferences like mine, then there will be hundreds of options. However, I don’t mind receiving repeat snacks because the majority of these Graze snacks are delicious. I’ll be sharing my reviews for each of the snacks in my August box.
Jalapeno Cheese Taco
This is my all-time favorite snack out of the vegan and gluten-free snacks that Graze offers. I wish I could choose to only receive this snack! It’s made of fava beans, sunflower oil, and chili broad beans. The “cheese” flavoring is made of natural and vegan flavors, which they list in the ingredients. People who regularly eat cheese might not be as happy with the flavor, but I thought it was delicious!
Garden of England
Garden of England is a yummy mixture of mini strawberries, blackcurrants, and soft apple slices. I thought it was delicious! I’m very picky about dried fruit—especially strawberries—but the texture of these was perfect.
There are 80 calories, 19g of carbohydrates, and just 2g of fiber in this. There’s no protein, which is unsurprising since it’s a fruit mixture.
Vitamin E Defense
This is another snack I received in my first Graze box, which I really enjoyed! Roasted hazelnuts, redskin peanuts, jumbo raisins, and cranberries combine to create this delicious snack. As you might be able to tell by the name, it’s a great source of Vitamin E and is also high in manganese (which helps protect cells from stress). I enjoyed this combination. Hazelnuts are my favorite nut, so that’s a big part of why I liked it so much.
The Vitamin E Defense snack contains 190 calories, 12g of sugar, 10% of daily fiber needs, and 5g of protein.
This snack is made of dried pears, dried sour cherries, and walnuts. I liked this one as well—it made a delicious salad topper! It provided my meal with extra sweetness, as well as crunch, thanks to the walnuts. The chewy and crunchy mixture is the perfect combination. And it only has 150 calories (plus a few essential vitamins and minerals)!
Natural Energy Nuts
As I mentioned in last month’s review, I wasn’t too happy with this snack. While I love raw nuts, I subscribed to Graze to try their creative snack inventions. They just threw a couple kinds of nuts into this snack pack without any fun seasoning or flavoring.
Cacao Orange Fruit Pieces with Dates and Raw Almonds
This is one of my favorite snacks from my first box, so I was excited to see it again. The Cacao & Orange snack pack has chopped dates, raw almonds, and superfruit pieces of real orange with cacao nibs! The orange makes it sweet. I wasn’t a huge fan of the dates, but everything else was yummy.
Sweet and Spicy Beet Crunch
This sweet and spicy beet crunch snack is made of dried beet chips, sunflower seeds, and jalapeno chickpeas. A lot of people didn’t enjoy the texture of the beet chips, but I didn’t mind it. I do think they could’ve been a little more flavorful, but they’re still one of my favorites! I loved the sunflower seeds and the spiciness added from the jalapeno flavoring.
This snack is a good source of fiber and protein, and it has just 100 calories.
Sweet Rhubarb Jam
This snack pack consists of rhubarb, soft apple pieces, and cranberries. The rhubarb has a unique tart flavor that mixed well with the sweet cranberries and apple pieces. This snack allowed me to try rhubarb for the first time!
As for nutritional information, this one contains 100 calories, 12% of your daily fiber, and 20g of sugar. It’s a good source of fiber, but there’s no protein in this one either.
Free Graze Box (First Month)
Graze offers the option to try a smaller version of their box for free! You just need to pay $3.99 for shipping. This comes with four snacks rather than eight, but it’s still a great deal.
In addition, they occasionally offer you your first full-size box for half price with free shipping. Since it’s normally $13.99, this would come to $6.99. That’s an even better deal considering you get eight snack packs for less than a dollar each.
I subscribe to a few different snack subscription boxes. While Graze is definitely one of my favorites, I’d also recommend Urthbox if you’re looking for healthy snacks or specific types of snacks (such as vegan or gluten-free). They offer snacks from various brands rather than one brand like Graze. Urthbox also has different pricing options to fit anyone’s budget.
