Who doesn’t love opening gifts? I know I do—this is why I love subscription boxes! They’re like unwrapping gifts every month (except for the fact that you usually pay for them yourself). That said, some of my favorite boxes are for beauty products.

Glossybox Review - Unboxing

Glossybox is one of the first beauty subscription boxes that I subscribed to, and I’ve been loving it! They provide four or five deluxe-sized samples and full-sized products every month. Plus, each box is customized towards your beauty preferences.

This Glossybox review shares my October products, how to save money on your subscription and earn rewards, similar beauty boxes, and so on.

Shipping + Unboxing

For some reason, I didn’t receive last month’s Glossybox. This was disappointing, but it wasn’t their fault. Even so, their customer service was very understanding and helpful when I reached out about it.

Thankfully, my October box successfully arrived in the middle of the month. As I’ve mentioned in my previous Glossybox reviews, I love their presentation of the products. They come in an elegant pink box, and the items are tucked neatly under pink tissue paper and a bow. Plus, it comes with a fold-out sheet that gives details about each item.

Glossybox Review - Glossy Retreat

Additionally, there was a $100 wine voucher on top for Naked Wines ($160 purchase required). I’ve received these in a bunch of subscription boxes, so I might just have to check it out.

Glossybox Review - Coupon

In total, I got six fantastic items this month! This is more than they usually include, plus four of them were full sized. I got a variety of different types of products, so I’ll be sharing each below.

Product Reviews

Tree Hut Overnight Mask

I’ve used a few Tree Hut products and have loved them. This was my first time trying an overnight mask! It’s made with natural ingredients like chamomile to soothe and hydrate skin. I was worried it might rub off during my sleep. However, it absorbed quickly after I put it on and only left a slight layer. It probably rubbed off a little, but it didn’t make my pillow feel gross.

Glossybox Review - Tree Hut Overnight Mask

Once I washed it off in the morning, my skin felt refreshed and clean. However, it seemed more dry than usual, so I made sure to use extra moisturizer. I wouldn’t use this more than once a week since it dried out my skin.

Retail value: $14.99 on the Tree Hut website

Georgette Klinger Rose Clarifying Toner

I haven’t had a toner in a long time. I couldn’t wait to try this out! It gave my skin a nice cooling effect. Like with most toners, it dried out my skin a bit, so I made sure to moisturize well after.

Glossybox Review - Rose Toner

I wouldn’t use this daily because it’s too drying, but it’s good for a couple times a week. I also loved the subtle rose scent.

Retail value: $26 for a full-size

Glossybox Review - Tocca Candle

Tocca Montauk Salt Air Cucumber Candle

I was pleasantly surprised when I found this adorable mini candle in my box—I love candles! The scent of this one is very refreshing and reminds me of summertime. Although it’s fall now, I still enjoy other scents occasionally.

Glossybox Reviews - Nails Inc Nail Polish

Retail value: $42 for a full-size

Nails Inc. Victory Place Nail Polish

This full-size nail polish is a pretty light pink color. While it’s not really a fall color, I still liked it. It stayed on my nails a pretty long time before chipping off! As you can see, it’s the same color as the Glossybox. I thought this was cute.

Retail value: $11

Invisibobble Sprunchie

This product is from Invisibobble and is called a Sprunchie, which is basically a mix between a scrunchie and a spiral hair ring. It held my hair up very well! Plus, it was easy to get out without damaging my hair. I’ll definitely be using this product when I go to sleep. It’s always difficult to take out ponytails or buns in the morning, so this Invisibobble will make it much easier.

Glossybox Review - Invisibobble

On the other hand, I prefer hair ties that blend in easily when it comes to daytime looks. This product is sold at Sephora and comes in a few different colors.

Glossybox Review - Lip ScrubRetail value: $8 at Sephora

Royal Apothic Scrubbie Sugar Lip Scrub

This is the final item I received in my box. It’s a full-sized sugar lip scrub from Royal Apothic! This product does a wonderful job at exfoliating my lips—they feel moisturized and luscious after I use it. It tastes yummy too, which is nice for when you accidentally get some in your mouth! Although it states it’s natural, I wouldn’t lick it off my lips like you can do with some sugar lip scrubs because some of their ingredients sound questionable. A little goes a long way, so this will last me a while as well.

Retail value: $14

Savings Opportunities

Glossybox typically offers a few deals to save money on their subscriptions! I’ve listed the coupon codes that they’re currently offering below.

Glossybox Review - Rewards

GBOX3 – Save 10% on three-month subscriptions

GBOX6 – Save 20% on six-month subscriptions

GBOX12 – Save 20% on annual subscriptions

FREEGLOSSY – Free box with annual subscription

GLOSSY1 – Save 20% on monthly subscriptions

In addition to these coupons, you can earn rewards every month you’re subscribed to Glossybox. Each month, you can take a survey about the products you received to earn rewards credits that you can redeem in their shop, meaning each month you can earn around $5! The payout is 40 cents per survey on each product, an extra 40 cents to write a review about it, and 40 cents to take a survey about the box overall! This adds up and only takes a few minutes to complete all of it.

Similar Subscriptions

Nowadays, there are so many beauty boxes to choose from. Since it can be difficult to find the right one, I’ve included a few others that I’ve enjoyed and detailed how they compare to Glossybox!

Glossybox Review - Boxycharm vs. Glossybox

Julep Review - August 2018

For one, Boxycharm is a beauty subscription that’s a great value. It costs the same price as Glossybox, but the main difference between the two is that all of the items Boxycharm includes are full sized! Because of this, their monthly box values are over $100. They even provide full-size eyeshadow palettes, as you can see in our Boxycharm reviews! This is a great subscription if you’d prefer getting makeup items that will last a while rather than trying out a variety of samples to find your perfect products.

Ipsy Reviews 2018

Another beauty box I’ve been loving is Julep because they only provide their own brand of products! Since their products are high quality, you’ll never have to worry about receiving bad items (other than getting the perfect shades). Like Boxycharm, each item you receive is full sized. My Julep reviews show how you can try your first box for free!

If you’re searching for a cheaper subscription, there are a few of those as well—Ipsy is one example. It costs $10 monthly and provides smaller sample products. My favorite part of Ipsy is that they include a cute, reusable makeup bag every month! It’s also a great way to try out new products without overspending.

Review Summary
Overall, I was pleased with this month’s Glossybox! I just wish they’d tailored it more towards autumn or Halloween since it’s October. However, the extra product was awesome, and there was nothing in my box that I disliked. The price isn’t too expensive, and as you can see, you receive numerous full-sized products every month. It’s a fun subscription to try out new beauty products!
