Boxycharm March 2019 Review + Unboxing
Seeing my monthly Boxycharm at my doorstep is always a treat! This top beauty subscription box provides 4–5 full-size products, all for just $21 per month. I’m always impressed by the product quality and the fact that they provide some high-end brands (I’ve received products from Tarte, CoverFX, and plenty more).
As with my previous Boxycharm reviews, this month’s unboxing shows the products I received. Plus, I’ll share how to save money, as well as some similar subscription boxes you might enjoy.
Shipping + Unboxing
My box came in their typical black box with white lettering, and everything was packed inside. This month I received five lovely items, which I’ll be reviewing next!
CoverFX Perfector Face Palette
I’m familiar with this brand, so I was excited to see a face palette from them as the highlight of this box. However, when I opened it, I was bummed to find that one of the highlighter shades was shattered! This was most likely the shipper’s fault, but Boxycharm customer service was very understanding and sent another.
Otherwise, the palette is beautiful and has shades for the entire face. It’s perfect to keep in the car or a makeup bag for quick touch-ups rather than a bunch of different products.
Retail value: $45
Moda Brushes Powder and Soft Glow Kit
I’m always stoked for new makeup brushes. This kit came with two gorgeous face brushes, perfect to pair with the face palette. They’re super soft and high quality.
Retail value: $29.99
Ofra Liquid Lipstick
It’s hard to find a good liquid lipstick, so it’s always a treat to get them in subscription boxes. This one is from Ofra in a pretty berry shade. It works pretty well—it stays on quite a long time without terribly drying out my lips like some liquid lipsticks.
Retail value: $20
Appeal Liquid Eyeshadow
Like liquid lipsticks, liquid eyeshadows are another one of my favorite products. For one, they’re way easier to apply. I loved this yellowish nude shimmery shade. It’s pigmented and blends wonderfully. With primer, it stays on all day without creasing!
Retail value: $21
Wander Beauty Lift Off Purifying and Brightening Peel Off Mask
I’d tried a sample of a different mask from this brand before, and I really liked it. I was stoked to receive this full-size mask! After using this, my face feels soft and clean.
Retail value: $33
Total March Box Value: $148.99!
Odds are, you won’t find a coupon to directly save money on a monthly Boxycharm subscription (I never have, and I check every month)! Even so, they offer coupons for free gifts with your first subscription. If you sign up through this Boxycharm link, you’ll be able to get a free gift with your first box.
Another way you can always save money is by subscribing to a set plan! For example, a 3-month subscription costs $19.66 per box, a 6-month subscription costs $19.33 per box, and the annual plan costs $19.25 per box. You do have to pay the total price upfront, but you might as well save a little extra money if you already know you’ll subscribe that long.
Similar Subscription Boxes
There are plenty of options when it comes to this niche—so many that we have an entire top picks list for beauty subscription boxes! This list has a pretty broad range of boxes, so I’ll also share a few boxes that you might like if you’re interested in Boxycharm.
Another full-size subscription box I recently subscribed to is Love Goodly. It’s a little spendier at $34.95 per box, but these are shipped every two months rather than monthly. The main difference with this box that I love is that they only provide healthy products that are non-toxic and cruelty-free. Plus, it’s nice to receive boxes every two months rather than monthly.
They mostly provide beauty and skincare products, but they occasionally add in an accessory, wellness product, or healthy snack as a fun surprise.
FabFitFun / Causebox
I’ve shared both of these subscriptions because they’re incredibly similar. They both cost around $50 each season (shipped every three months) and provide a lovely array of full-size, high-value products for women. The box is themed around the season, and it’s always a beautiful curation of 7–8 items. The only difference between the two is that Causebox only provides socially conscious products that have some type of positive impact on the world.
Check out both my FabFitFun reviews and Causebox reviews to compare the two more effectively!
I’ve subscribed to Ipsy for nearly a year now, and I’m always pretty happy with their monthly products. It costs $10, so don’t expect to receive full-size products like Boxycharm. There are always samples, but I’ve received a makeup brush almost every month that’s worth nearly the entire price of the subscription (sometimes they’re worth more). They also come with a cute, reusable makeup bag, which I love. Check out my Ipsy reviews to see their products.
If you want a box with full-size options, Ipsy is actually going to be introducing a larger subscription just like Boxycharm for $25 per month! I’m bummed it’s not available yet, but I will definitely subscribe once it comes out.
Other products on their roster this month included a Morphe palette, a Deborah Lippmann nail polish set, Becca lipstick, IT Cosmetics mascara, and others. As you can see, they have plenty of name brands and provide an incredible value of products. The total box value was seven times what I paid, which makes this subscription well worth the price.
